Are you in the market for a $600 optic? Probably not. Since last summer, sales have been down in the dumps. We’re 24 days into March and we have just sold our first EOTech. In the good old days, rarely did a single day pass without the sale of an EOTech, Aimpoint, Trijicon, or other premium optic. Thankfully, some firms have recognized this shift in the market. Our friends at Spikes Tactical recently launched Black Spider Optics LLC. Their first product, a 3MOA red dot sight similar to the ever-popular Aimpoint Micro, is priced under $200. That’s good news for shooters on a budget.

The Black Spider red dot is a brilliant piece of hardware– with a clever little sensor on top of its body that senses light levels and automatically adjusts the brightness setting of the 3MOA dot. If you press the power button again, you can bypass this system and adjust the brightness manually with the up and down buttons. After two hours of standby, the unit will shut off to conserve power. And the Black Spider doesn’t use utilize some fancy or expensive Lithium battery. It takes plain Jane AAA batteries– something any dad worth his salt has stockpiled for his children’s noise-making toys (and daddy’s own noise-canceling ear protection, for that matter.) It also comes with a M1913 Picatinny mount as standard equipment. It’s a really nice, lightweight, billet aluminum number with Torx screws. And it was designed to co-witness with standard AR15 sights.

We just received our first shipment, so they’re in-stock for only $179 with FREE SHIPPING! Even if you’re not in the market, please take a look at the fancy 360 degree imagery I cooked up yesterday. It’s a little rough, but it was my first attempt at such an endeavor. I want to do more of these images for our clients to examine products virtually. If you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it. Please visit our blog and leave a comment.

That’s all for today, my friends. Have a good ‘un and God bless!
